This workshop is designed to achieve two primary goals: acquainting participants with the fundamental principles of visual design for scientific illustrations, and equipping scientists with the skills needed to efficiently produce informative and appealing illustrations using Adobe Illustrator.

Contents

Day 1 - Basic Design Principles and Drawing Techniques

  • Planning Strategies: Learn essential planning strategies, visual hierarchy, Gestalt principles and Color Theory for visual harmony.

  • Drawing Techniques: Master drawing and coloring techniques using Illustrator’s Drawing tools, explore different types of brushes, and learn how to enhance illustrations through advanced transformations and distortion settings.

Day 2 - Advanced Techniques and Drawing Your Own Illustration

  • Intricate Designs: Master advanced techniques for creating intricate designs, including blending objects, working with perspective, and meshes.

  • Collaborative Brainstorming: Participate in a collaborative brainstorming session.

  • Project Time: Apply new skills to your own illustrations with ongoing guidance and feedback.
